National Tree

Commanding a central presence in the timeless settings of India countryside, is the mighty Banyan, a tree endemic to the Indian subcontinent. For man it provides shelter and is a point where the village communities gather and transact much of their affairs. The tree is a veritable micro habitat for countless creatures. It release maximum ozone in the atmosphere. Like banyan, India shelter all races, castes, creed and religion. To them all, it gives wisdom.

National BirdThe Indian peacock, the national bird of India, is a colourful swan – sized bird with a fan – shaped crest of feathers on its head, a white patch under the eye and a long slender neck. Peacock represents a colourful life.

National Fruit

A fleshy fruit, eaten ripe or used green for pickles etc., of the tree Magnifera indica, the mango is one of the most important and widely cultivated fruits of the tropical world. In India there are over 100 varieties of mangoes, in different sizes, shape and colours. Poet Kalidasa sung its praises and Akbar planted 100,000 mango trees in Darbhanga, known as Lakhi Bagh.

National Flower




The National Flower Lotus. Lotus, prized for their serene beauty, are delightful to behold as their blossoms open on the surface of a pond.

In India, the sacred lotus is legendary and much folklore and religious mythology is woven around it. Lotuses represent detachment (vairagya). The water touches it but cannot make it wet. Similarly, the spiritual mind endures all advertise with a smile (sorrows around but not sorrowfully).

National Flag

Indias national flag is a horizontal tricolour of deep saffron (Kesri) at the top; White is in the middle and dark green at the bottom. In the center of the white at band is a navy wheel (Chakra). Its design is that of the wheel which appears on the abacus of the Sarnath Lion Capital of Ashoka. Its diameter approximates to the width of the white band and its 24 spokes.
The saffron color represents sacrifice – The colour of flames.
The white color represents Nobility.
The green color represents prosperity.
The wheel represents Dharma.

National Emblem

The national emblem is an adaptation from the Sarnath, Lion Capital of Ashoka. In the original, there are four lions, standing back to back, mounted on an abacus with a frieze carrying sculptures of an elephant, a galloping horse, a bull and a lion separated by intervening wheels over a bell – shaped lotus. Carved out of single block of polished sandstone, the capital is crowned by the Wheel of the Law, Dharma Chakra. In the state emblem adopted by the Government of India on January 26, 1980, only three lions are visible, the fourth being hidden from views. The wheel appears from views. The wheel appears in relief in the center of the abacus with a bull on the right and a horse on the left, and the outlines right and left. In inspire us to march along the path of dharma slogging like bull yet remaining swift as a horse. The bell shaped lotus has been omitted. The words Satyameva Jayate from Mundaka Upanished, meaning Truth Alone Triumphs are inscribed below the abacus in the Devanagari script.
